There are six books shortlisted for William Hill Sports Book Of The Year 2009: Ring of Fire: The inside story of Valentino Rossi and MotoGP by Rick Broadbent; Eclipse: Story of the Rogue, the Madam, the Horse that changed racing by Nicholas Clee; Confessions of a Rugby Mercenary by John Daniell; Harold Larwood: The authorized biography of the world’s fastest bowler by Duncan Hamilton; Feet of the Chameleon: The Story of African Football by Ian Hawkey; and Simple Goalkeeping Made Spectacular by Graham Joyce.

UK bookmaker William Hill announced on Thursday the shortlist for the 21st annual William Hill Sports Book of the Year, which is run in association with book chain Waterstone’s.
. The author of the winning book will receive GBP21,000 in cash, a GBP2,000 free bet from William Hill, a hand-bound designer-created copy of their book and an invitation to a day at the races.
Judging the award are chairman John Gaustad, who founded Sports Pages bookshop, together with broadcasters and journalists John Inverdale, Danny Kelly, Hugh McIlvanney and Alyson Rudd.
