I SUPPOSE I should be happy with it. Be that as it may, the fact that a full strength Liverpool side went head to head with an Everton team held together with Pritt Stik and Gaffer tape and still struggled to conjure up anything resembling a clear goal-scoring chance says as much about Everton’s resolve as it does about Liverpool’s dreams this season.

But there was still something crushing about the nature of yesterday’s result.
From the moment Joleon Lescott flicked Tim Cahill’s already goal-bound effort into the Liverpool net, Everton stood off their opposition and basically dared them to try and score.
We have another crack at them now, and with the likes of Arteta and Fellaini due to return, Everton have every opportunity to give Liverpool a little more substantial to cry about next time around.
Seize it with both hands, chaps.
In terms of performance Liverpool have already claimed, behind sodden handkerchiefs, that there was only one side trying to win, that Everton shut up shop and that it would have been a travesty had we gone on to win.
