We want to decide the match in Rome with the support of our fans. “I hope that we will promptly find our rhythm and play with the same efficiency as we did for major parts of the last season.”

Miroslav Klose is anticipating a touch challenge to progress in the Champions League.

There can be no excuses for Lazio in their Champions League playoff against Bayer Leverkusen, veteran attacker Miroslav Klose has said.. We know what awaits us.”

Klose said he expected “two very intense games” against the Bundesliga side, with the first leg taking place in Italy on Tuesday.

He told kicker he wanted to focus on this season, and the Champions League challenge, before considering his future.

Lazio, who have yet to start their domestic season, last week suffered a 2-0 defeat to Juventus in the Italian Super Cup.

Leverkusen have participated in the Champions League playoffs four times, and have always progressed to the group stages, but their Germany international Christoph Kramer told kicker: “It feels like a round-of-16 tie.

“We need to be ready,” Klose told German football magazine kicker. I expect two very intense games.”

And he said he believed Leverkusen and Lazio would prove evenly matched opponents, explaining: “That’s why it will be incredibly important to make fewer mistakes than them.

“We will give it our all to get a good result in Rome. You can learn a lot from such a player, bascially because he obviously did everything right.”

The 37-year-old is entering the final year of his current contract and is widely expected to retire from football in 2016.

“I have seen Leverkusen a bunch of times, and they impressed me.

Leverkusen attacker Son Heung-Min, 23, told the magazine he and his teammates needed to be wary of Klose, explaining: “He still scores loads of goals, and became top scorer at the World Cup

They remained tied after the end of that as well, but only after a heart-wrenching finish. Uruguay will now face the Netherlands on Tuesday.

The game went into a penalty kick shootout and a stunned African crowd and Ghana’s players seemed to have the wind taken out of their sails. Uruguay scored on four of their five penalty kicks and Ghana was only able to capitalize on two of them.

They seemed destined to pull off the win and become the first African nation to advance to the semifinals in World Cup history, on African soil no less. Ghana had three straight corner kicks in the closing seconds of the final extra time and had three shots on goal denied.

The final denial however came on an intentional handball from Uruguay’s Luis Suarez and resulted in the final play of the game being a penalty kick for Ghana.

While that game provided some unexpected results, it paled in comparison to the emotionally gripping game between Uruguay and Ghana. Unfortunately for Africa and Ghana, star player Asamoah Gyan missed the kick off the top of the crossbar.

It was an emotional and exciting day for the 2010 World Cup, which started with Brazil being upset 2-1 by the Netherlands..

Both teams played to a 1-1 tie after 90 minutes of regulation and went into the two 15-minute extra periods. Uruguay defeated Ghana 4-2 on penalty kicks to eliminate the final African team still alive.

Gyan and several Ghana players were seen crushed and in tears after the loss

However, we can guess by their overall performance, strategic wise, strength, weaknesses, and several more things.

The battle begins

Yes the battle has begun amongst the top teams of Europe with an unlike spirit of winning champions league. We know who were the last year Champions, the German giants Bayern Munich. Fiorentina Perez (Madrid Owner).

Last year’s semifinalist is looking to grab the opportunity to win the Champions league for the tenth time. It was not less than a miracle for Bayern Munich to win another treble. Wow what a marvelous season for Bayern Munich last year. They did not even dream that one day they would be favorite to win Champions League, though somehow fate was kind to them, when suddenly a Qatari Investment authority decided to possess Paris Saint German. Heynckes, however many of us still cannot understand the decision of Bayern Munich’s President when he announced that Heynckes will be replaced by by Josep “Pep” Guardiola i Sala.

Now when everything is settled the fans are expecting something vibrant from PSG manager and the players because they brought several world class players to PSG, namely, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Alex, Lucas Moura, Thiago Silva, Edison Roberto Cavani Gomez, including many more young stars. That day and now we can see where PSG was and where are they now, so, it would be unfair to not to credit the Qatari Investment authority.

It was not a bad decision by Administration, though they should have given more time to Heynckes and should have waited until he resigned because to be fair he was doing a tremendous job. Therefore, it means he is the right man who can bring Madrid trophies, and maybe that is why Perez spends a lot of money around Ancelotti.

However, it is too early to say the possible teams as to which of them can be champions. In addition, fairly most of the credit goes to Mr. The man who replaced Jupp was Pep Guardiola, the one who took FC Barcelona to its peaks; this man also introduced the famous tiki-taka.

With a new season, they have started with new boss Carlo Ancelotti, who resigned from his job, as Paris Saint German’s manager for his dream job was to manage Madrid. They can sign any big name they want, they stunned the entire football world when they announced to have signed Tottenham Hotspurs winger Gareth Bale in EUR100 million and bringing Bale signified the high aims of Mr. Both of them are keen to score as many goals as they can just as they are doing in French league 1, however if they continue this in Champions League matches then for sure they can be strong contenders to lift the famous Champions League Trophy.

It would be no surprise if they win another treble under Pep Guardiola this time.

Thanks to the Jupp Heynckes who brought the Bavarians Champions league.

The pair of Cavani and Ibrahimovic can do exceptional things for PSG and they can easily win matches single handedly. Real Madrid is one of the richest Football club on the planet with an estimated wealth of EUR3 billion. With this size of squad, they can easily reach the semifinal again this year.

If we could look at PSG’s history, they have not been a strong force in Europe, however it is imperative to mention about their capability of becoming a major club in Europe. He is a very intelligent and experienced manager; he achieved several major trophies with AC Milan, Chelsea, and PSG. Nevertheless, if again they desire to win they have to be more wary because English, Spanish, Italian and French giants are very ambitious for winning the Champions League and they are very well prepared as compare to last season, some of them have brought some big names and some of them have hired notable managers.

Bayern Munich

In champion’s league Munich is one of the strongest title contender, it has become a habit of Bayern Munich to play semifinal each year. Now that such names have joined the club, the expectations are very high from PSG because they have spent a lot of money to enable it to compete with the other European Giants.

Paris Saint German

They did well last season when they surprisingly reached quarterfinal, but unfortunately they were slapped by Barcelona.

Real Madrid

It is frightful for Madrid fans to think to be a runner up or to be semifinalist again this year

United boss Van Gaal handed debuts to five players in all, including Sergio Romero, who started in goal after Van Gaal claimed De Gea was not able to focus on his game following interest from Real Madrid.

Christian Eriksen brushed aside Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind, who was played at center-half, to latch on to Kane’s chip, but the Dane lifted his shot over Romero on to the roof of the net.

In the dying stages Tottenham launched a series of attacks, but Romero saved their best effort from Eriksen and Van Gaal’s men held on to record a welcome home win.

United were wearing a new kit, Old Trafford sported a new adidas logo in the stands and four new signings were named in the starting XI.

Wayne Rooney tried – and failed – to score with an acrobatic effort 17 minutes from time and Young squirmed a low shot into Vorm’s arms as United pushed for a second.

Although the margin of victory was narrow, United barely looked in trouble, thanks mainly to Tottenham’s lack of a drive in midfield, which left Harry Kane starved of service up front.

The Dutchman played a key part in the counter that led to the United goal, which came when Walker accidentally prodded the ball in as Wayne Rooney prepared to shoot.

Bastian Schweinsteiger was given a huge reception when he came off the bench to make his first appearance for United, and soon entered the book for tripping Nacer Chadli.

Romero, like his defenders, looked tense on debut. Depay twisted and turned on the edge of the box before shooting over.

Defensively, United looked rusty and despite playing two midweek friendlies in Germany, Spurs were full of energy early on.

A few minutes later, Walker was left red-faced as he put United ahead.

The Spaniard watched on from the directors’ box as Memphis Depay made an impressive debut.

But the hosts’ performance in the opening stages was very much reminiscent of the old United side who struggled at the start of last season.

Kyle Walker stabbed the ball into his own net in the 22nd minute to hand Louis van Gaal’s new-look United side a 1-0 win in the first match of the campaign.

. As the captain readied himself for the shot, Walker did the job for him, nudging the ball past Michel Vorm, who was deputising for the injured Hugo Lloris in the away goal.

The game hit a lull after the break. The Dutchman found Young and he squared to Rooney. Kane, isolated on his own up front, barely had any time on the ball.

MANCHESTER, ENGLAND – AUGUST 08: Kyle Walker (L) of Tottenham Hotspur kicks the ball resulting in the own goal during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on August 8, 2015 in Manchester, England. The Argentinian, who joined United on a free transfer less than two weeks ago, caused a couple of hairy moments with sloppy passes early on, but then put a crucial block in on Walker.

United dominated for the rest of the first half, but could not double their lead despite efforts from Mata and the impressive Depay.

David de Gea watched from the stands as Manchester United kicked off the Premier League season with a narrow yet comfortable win over Tottenham at Old Trafford.

They dropped two points in the opening eight games, scoring 22 goals and conceding none, to open a three-point lead over second-placed Sevilla at the top, with Real Madrid, who lost two of their first three matches, a further point behind in third.

MADRID Barcelona made a brisk start to the season with new coach Luis Enrique at the helm in place of Gerardo Martino and a host of additions to the squad, including midfielder Ivan Rakitic and goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.

But Real went down 2-1 at Valencia the same day, ending a Spanish-record winning run of 22 matches, and the tide turned.

It was fitting that Barcelona wrapped up a fifth La Liga crown in seven years at Atletico, who pipped them to the title on the final day last term with a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp.

Messi started to move up the gears and, with Neymar and Suarez also coming into form, Barca began to look unstoppable, particularly with the defence playing its part..

Barca climbed back on top after Real’s defeat at Athletic Bilbao at the start of March and Suarez scored a superb goal to clinch a 2-1 ‘Clasico’ win when Real visited the following week.

Bravo set a record for minutes unbeaten at the start of a La Liga season but finally let goals through when Barca lost the ‘Clasico’ at Real 3-1 at the end of October.

(Editing by Ken Ferris)

The only blips after the defeat at Sociedad were a 1-0 reverse at Malaga and a 2-2 draw away to Sevilla, with 18 wins, 67 goals scored and 11 conceded in 20 outings.

A draw at Getafe left Barca four points adrift of their arch rivals at the turn of the year and January was a depressing low as rumours of a rift between Messi and Luis Enrique swirled after they lost 1-0 at Real Sociedad in their 2015 opener.

It was a disappointing debut for Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, whose ban for biting an opponent at the World Cup expired the previous day, and there was more pain to come when Barca lost 1-0 at home to Celta Vigo in their next match.

They slipped to fourth, with Real leading ahead of Valencia and Atletico Madrid, although Barca’s gloom was partly offset by Lionel Messi setting a La Liga scoring record with a hat-trick against Sevilla on Nov

The hosts took full advantage, colonized their opponent’s half and had the better chances.

Enrique commented: “We did not play our best game in the first half but found ourselves in the second. Barca 1, Real 0.

The tactical set ups seemed the right ones for the rosters the coaches chose but the substitutions seemed strategic in Enrique’s case–to maintain the lead–while the Real ones seemed the predictable ones Ancelotti makes more out of reflex or need than with a specific strategic intent. The Frenchman back-heeled brilliantly for a streaking Ronaldo who came down the middle with a slide and poked the ball past Bravo’s fruitless dive. Real played us very well and seemed to find its old form in this game. His world class speed was never exploited and his teammates seemed content to attack on the other side of the field for the majority of the game.

The second half started with seeming mutual urgency and Real had some very early initiative, but the match soon returned to the incredible pace of the first half.

As for the individual battle between Messi and Ronaldo, the Portuguese was able to close the La Liga scoring gap but the Argentine seemed able to hold his own and in that draw Messi always pulls ahead. Had we taken advantage of our first-half chances this might have ended differently. In the defensive clashes it was Jordi Alba over Bale, Dani Alves and Marcelo cancelling each other out and Pique playing a better game than either Ramos or Pepe.

Missing in action today was Gareth Bale who has been under managerial, front office, and fan microscopes for his lack of major contributions this year. This was a pretty victory if not a definitive one in the race for the La Liga title.

Ancelotti, in the post-game press conference said: “We played well for 60 minutes and poorly for 30. Score tied. It will be left to European play for the golden trophy tiebreaker.

Ultimately, at the 31st minute, a brilliant Luka Modric pass found Karim Benzema open at the top right of the Barca box, just inside the big area. He seemed to wilt under the pressure of having to drop so far back on defense and then not having any long balls fed his way. But I leave this match with a positive feeling that my team has reemerged. A couple of Claudio Bravo saves, a Cristiano Ronaldo shot off the crossbar and several missed opportunities by various Merengues ensued. Barca 2, Real 1. Perhaps the only interesting note was Real’s 4-4-2 with Bale as the added midfielder, a tactic that seems to work defensively but not add much offensive punch as it leaves the Welshman out of many attacks.

The game began with a clear Catalan flavor as Real played a strange rope-a-dope-like strategy that saw the likes of Gareth Bale but a few yards in front of Dani Carvajal on defensive duties. In midfield, the clash between Iniesta and Modric went to the Croat while Javier Mascherano and Toni Kroos cancelled each other out. His comments aside, this team has to bring home silverware and it is more likely the domestic championship will serve as a training ground for the European competition they still have a good shot at winning.. The many goal opportunities would end up making a huge difference.

Finally, the clash that meant the world to Real went to Barca and with the Copa del Rey out of the picture for the Blancos it will be the Champions League that seems most likely to provide coach Carlo Ancelotti’s troops with their chance at redemption.

Ronaldo and Messi seemed to mostly cancel each other out not because they went missing but because each had about the same contribution to their causes.

At the 56th minute Luis Suarez trapped a long pass on the run between Pepe and Ramos, and in a single fluid motion knocked the ball against the grain and behind Pepe and the crouching Iker Casillas who was closing in but could only see the ball roll by toward the far post of the goal. They will be a force down the line here and abroad.”

Sunday at the Camp Nou Stadium, in Barcelona, Spain, hosts Barcelona FC defeated visiting Real Madrid 2-1 to take a four-point lead atop the La Liga table with ten games to play in the season. Yes Barcelona is four points clear, but we won’t give up, we will not make the Champions League our only focus, there are ten games ahead for both of us.”

At the 19th minute a Lionel Messi cross off a free kick found an open Jeremy Mathieu, who had lost his marker, Sergio Ramos, for the easy put-away header from inside the goalie’s box. Real Madrid did not seem to feel the urgency of the moment despite its dire need and Barcelona was again allowed to feel comfortable taking the initiative.

With the exception of the latter part of the opening half when Real exerted control and created many opportunities and the early minutes of the second half, when Messi and company seemed poised to take over, the game was perhaps, despite or because of the many yellows handed out, one of the tamest Clasicos in recent memory.

Then the visitors woke up and started to control the game, and they managed to do so for the remaining 26 minutes
